About Us

Governance Architects is an Australian management consulting company that provides strategy, planning, business design and transformation services.

Our beliefs

1. Getting clarity on strategy
2. Facilitating structured and collaborative planning
3. Designing and creating value
4. Encouraging a culture of accountability and transparency
5. Giving back to the industry

1. Getting clarity on strategy

We believe that having a clear and shared understanding of your leader’s aspirations and strategic choices on where and how to compete and win, will steer your organisation and teams towards the same beacon.

 - What % of your Board and management team members have a common understanding of your leader’s aspirations and strategic choices on where and how to compete and win?

 - What % of capability owners have a common understanding of your leader’s aspirations and strategic choices on where and how to compete and win?

 - What % of team members are working towards the same set of aspirations and goals?

2. Facilitating structured and collaborative planning

When it comes to translating strategy into action we believe in combining top-down planning, bottom-up planning and cross business unit planning. To attain organisational success, we believe in bringing everybody on the journey through collaboration.

 - How effective do your product, marketing, sales, channels and retention teams work together?

 - How aligned are your front office and back office support areas?

 - How well do your resilience capabilities protect and enable your business?

Our clients have leveraged our deep dive operating model designs to heat map areas of strength and weakness, highlighting hot spots across their organisation and identified what business change is required. This allows us to facilitate bottom-up and cross business unit planning and bring all capability owners on the journey.

3. Designing and creating value

3.1 Creating value for your client’s in your business model

We believe in designing a business model for you that creates value for your clients.

To realise and maintain sustained customer value, your business model needs to continuously adapt to environmental change. It needs to continuously sense and respond to evolving customer behaviours, disruptive competitors and innovation possibilities. More recently political and regulatory changes have become the thorn in the side that need scenario planning to ensure both target customers receive the desired customer experience and your growth aspirations are met. Creating and sustaining value has never been so important to stay in business.

3.2 Creating value for your internal stakeholders in your operating models

We believe in supporting you to not only create value for your clients, but to design and realise value for your internal clients through designing the right target operating models.

As organisations get larger there is a higher dependence on the effective operations of product, marketing, sales, channels, operations, strategy planning and change, finance, human resources, ICT, digital, legal, risk and compliance. If these functions are unable to understand each other’s needs they will be unable to deliver effective services to them, having a detrimental effect on client experiences and impact business outcomes.

When you walk the floors, how many people give you a solid answer on:
 - How are they contributing value to the organisation?
 - Who are their stakeholders?
 - What services do they deliver to their stakeholders?
 - How satisfied are their stakeholders with their services?
 - Do they have a plan in place to improve satisfaction in weak areas?
 - If service satisfaction remains low internally, how does this impact your clients?

We at Governance Architects believe in designing operating models for every function and team across your organisation, helping your teams articulate how they deliver value and engage other teams and their clients. Our clients have used these operating models to support their decision making in strategy, planning, change and business as usual activities.

4. Encouraging a culture of accountability and transparency

We believe in embedding accountability to your capability owners, making sure they provide transparency of their hotspots and what actions they are taking over what period of time to close them.

 - Does your human resource team report on people and culture hotspots across your organisation?

 - Does your process team report on the process hotspots across your organisations?

 - Do your architects report on the application, data and technology hotspots across your organisation?

 - Does your program management office report on program and project portfolio hotspots or capability hotspots across your organisation?

By making these transparent, we believe your capability owners should ask their internal business partners to work with them to solve their capability gaps together. Driving a business with this culture or behaviour in mind will bring everybody together towards the same beacon and success.

5. We give back to the industry

Beyond our clients we have contributed to the industry and volunteered time and resources:

We believe in supporting not for profits. We have supported ISACA Sydney, a not for profit in the professional development sector to be customer centric, operationally efficient, manage their risks and grow their business.

We believe in diversity and inclusion and have volunteered our strategy and planning services with DAWN, a not for profit that promotes cultural diversity on leadership teams.

We have provided educational services on best practices in strategy, planning and change, risk management, resource optimisation and performance measurement. Attendees have been from BIG four accounting firms, financial services and government agencies.
